Josh and I wanted our wedding to be a fun spirited celebration… and it turned out to be exactly that.
Dancing, costumes, pinyatas, and beatboxing rap battles at the reception. These were the ultimate highlights… plus marrying each other of course!
We were married at Nikau Caves; a place in the countryside where we both grew up. Together, with our friends and family, we ventured out to the hills where the pace of life is slower, and there’s no phone signal to take your mind anywhere else.
To make the most of having our friends and family all together in one place, we had an early ceremony at 11am. We were creative with the wedding outfits, making it feel like we dressed up and went on a fairytale adventure! Our inspiration came from Peter Pan ‘Lost Boys’, 1700’s Pirates, Woodland Fairies, and loads of green tea.
The day felt like a touch of heaven on earth. It’s how we would imagine heaven: people dancing, attacking pinatas, laughing, and sharing good food together. Taking this step into marriage meant seeing the power of two lives coming together, and enabling each other to go deeper and stronger in this life.
After our wedding, we took off in our van for a road trip around the South Island for three months. Quality time is something Josh and I have always treasured, so this was the perfect way to spend the first 3 months of married life. We read books, went tramping and stayed at DOC camps – it was a really special time.
Here’s to many more years of this epic journey together!
